Bienvenidos… Welcome 2022. We hope you had a magical holiday season. We are so pleased for this new year and returning back to normal. The last couple years have been difficult for the world, but hope has carried us through them and we are ready to bounce back in 2022 higher than ever before. So hold on and let’s BOUNCE.

Manuel Antonio hosted their first 3-day boutique music festival Renacidofest with local musicians rotating around several venues to keep the crowds of wonderful people who came out to support this event in a socially conscious environment. The music was incredible and so was the vibe. I can’t express how great it was to get out and see old friends and make new ones and hear great live music again. The next festival is planned for May 2022, so make plans not to miss it.

Marina Pez Vela is jumping as always and kicking off the Sport Fishing Tournament season with the Pelagic Rockstar Tournament (Jan 14-16) which is always a great time and start to the new year. MPV has all your fishing options whether inshore or offshore is your thing they got you covered. Not a fisherman? Bienvenidos… Welcome to the Rain Forest, can’t say the name did not warn you. It will probably rain a little while you’re here but don’t let that slow your adventures. Thanks to the rain, Manuel Antonio National Park is in full bloom attracting frogs, hummingbirds, and butterflies of every color. It is also baby season here in the jungle, so look closely as a lot of monkeys and sloths are carrying their young on their backs.

Bienvenidos…Welcome to the rain forest. Green season has arrived, so enjoy the peace and all the lushness it provides. Our mornings are normally beautiful and the rain normally rolls in late in the afternoon, so get moving early and enjoy your adventures. Maybe an afternoon nap (quilt free in the rain). Our restaurants and tour companies are in full swing to make your time here an unforgettable one. Without the crowds and with cooler weather it’s a perfect time to hike one of our beautiful National Parks that Costa Rica has to offer. We recommend calling ahead to our fine restaurants beforehand because some will be closing briefly this time of year for a quick vacation for themselves and their staff. Being from the US I look forward to this time of year and the start of the NFL season. You can catch all the action at Jolly Roger on the hill or Best Western Hotel and Casino in Quepos.

There are so many wonderful things Costa Rica has to offer and we are here to guide you to your best vacation possible. The summer rains have brought the greenness. The rain normally rolls in late in the afternoon so get out early and enjoy the beautiful day.

Have a great Canada Day on July 1st for all you Canadians and a wonderful Independence Day on July 4th. Costa Rica celebrates Guanacaste Day on the July 24th, remember these holidays commemorate freedom and peace that so many people fought for. It is not all about fireworks and fiestas…they are just what make it fun. In Costa Rica, Mothers Day is August 15 so don’t forget to make those dinner reservations for that special woman. Moms should not have to cook. She probably would not mind a massage either.

Whale season begins this time of year and Marina Pez Vela has many options to take advantage of it. Check out Sunset Tours for a great time and a chance to get close to the whales along with snorkeling and incredible sunsets. April should bring a little rain to cool things off and provide some amazing sunsets. So get to one of our many restaurants such as Burû or Buena Vista on the beach, or Ronnie’s Place on the mountain and enjoy delicious food and cocktails with a spectacular views.

The fishing has been remarkable at Marina Pez Vela and so have the tournament’s. MPV will be hosting the Marina Pez Vela Open (April 9-10). Leading up to the Offshore World Championships (April 11-16) with teams from around the world competing for the championship. We want to thank writer Benn Gilmour (That’s Fishin’ pg. 26) for the awesome cover shot.

The Earth is an incredibly complex and vibrant ecosystem. Where living organisms interact with each other and their environment to create the ideal conditions for life. After the year we had this has never been more clear to respect her and to do what we can to make it a better world. Celebrate, Appreciate and Respect Earth Day April 22.

May and June bring the beginning of the green season and turtle season. MPV will host another exciting fishing tournament the Summer Solstice Shootout (June 19). World Ocean Day is June 8th so while enjoying our miles of beautiful coastline make a habit of bringing something in which to collect some trash and leave the beach better than when you arrived.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) has forced us to discontinue the April printing of our magazine. We will be uploading the issue here for your enjoyment and to help our advertisers through this period of self-isolation.

The Rooster Rodeo is focused on catching, tagging and releasing to help with conservation of the Rooster fish. The 9th Annual Billfish Cup (March 19-21). Always a great time with two different categories this year.

Bienvenidos… Welcome 2020. We hope you had a wonderful holiday and want to wish you an incredible New Year. High season is upon us here in Costa Rica and we are glad you are here to be part of it with us. Green season has provided us a beautiful backdrop to begin this New Year of adventures and great memories. Our magazine is filled with the best of the best the area has to offer.
